Getting started

This page walks through the whole setup from a completely empty account to your first piece of data. It should take about 5 minutes, most of which is waiting for AI bots to actually visit your site.

1

Create your account

Go to the sign-up page and create an account with your email. You get a 7-day free trial automatically — no credit card required, and nothing is charged until you decide to subscribe.

2

Add your website

Once logged in, click + Add site on your dashboard. Enter your website's name and domain (e.g. example.com). This creates a unique API key for that site — a long code starting with aivt_ that identifies your site to AI Tracker. You'll need it in the next step.

3

Install the connector

After adding a site, you land on its Connect tab, which shows setup instructions with your API key already filled in. If your site runs on WordPress, follow the WordPress guide — it's the simplest path and takes about 2 minutes. Running something else? See other platforms (Cloudflare, PHP, or Node.js).

4

Confirm it's connected

Right on the Connect tab, you'll see a status indicator — it should turn green and say “Connected” once the connector successfully checks in with AI Tracker (usually within a minute of finishing setup). This confirms the plumbing works, even before any actual AI visit happens.

5

Wait for your first AI visit

AI-agent traffic isn't constant — depending on your site, the first real visit might show up in minutes or take a day or two. You don't need to do anything; just check back on your dashboard. If you want to confirm everything works right away without waiting, the WordPress plugin has a “Send test ping” button that simulates a visit instantly.

6

Read your dashboard

Once data starts flowing in, head to Reading your dashboard to understand exactly what each number means.

Not seeing anything after a day or two? Check the FAQ & troubleshooting page — the most common cause is page caching, which has a quick fix.
